Chapter 1 : Rotational Dynamics class 12th Maharashtra HSC board

Introduction :-

Circular motion is an essential part of our daily  life every day we come across several revolving or rotating (rigid) objects

During revaluation the object every particle in the object undergoes circular motion about some point outside the object or about some other objects

Characteristics of circular motion:-

1) It is an accelerated motion as the direction of velocity changes at every instant,if is an accelerated motion

2) It is a periodic motion during the motion, the particle repeat it’s path.

Uniform circular motion:- during circular motion if the speed of the particle remain constant it is called as uniform circular motion

Non-uniform circular motion:- The object revolve in a circular motion without constant speed is called as non uniform circular motion

Centripetal force:-the force which is directed toward the centre of earth is called as centripetal force

Centrifugal force:-the force which is away from the centre of earth is called as centrifugal force

Application of uniform circular motion:-

1)vehicle along a horizontal circular track:-

-force acting on the car is centripetal force

-weight mg downward

-static force =fs

-When we go through horizontal circular track along with vehicle when we turn the road the weight of the vehicle form the centre

-static friction between vehicle and road

2)wall of death:-this is the vertical cylindrical wall of radius inside which a vehicle is driven in horizontal circles this can be seen while performing stunts the centrifugal force is acting an the vehicle when we increase the speed gravitational force acting on the vehicle which is the first force.

3)vehicle on a banked road:-here two forces are acting on the vehicle weight mg, verticaly downwards and normal reaction n when a vehicle travels on a banked road it counter the surface inclined at an angle theta this banking helps vehicles navigate turns more safely

Conical pendulum:-A tiny mass assumed to be point called as bob is connected to a massless intensible flexible string and suspended to a rigid support is called a pendulum . And when the pendulum swing in conical shape is known as conical pendulum

Radius of gyration:-the radius of gyration is a understand how the mass of an object is distributed with respect to its acmxis of rotation the smaller radius of gyration indicated the mass is concentrated close the axis

Rolling motion:-Rolling motion is combination of rotational motion and linear motion .the object like a cylinder, sphere, wheels etc.are quite often seen to perform rolling motion

Angular momentum or momentum of linear momentum:-the quantity of rotation of a body, which is the product of its moment of inertia and it’s angular velocity.when an object of mass m moves with a speed v in a straight line,we  say that it has a linear momentum p=mv when the same object moves with an angular speed w along the circumference of a circle of radius , we say that it has n angular momentum it is similar to torque.

Rigid body:-when the distance between the particle of body does not change on applying force then these body is called rigid body.

Translation motion:-In this type of motion particle follow the same path or parallel path with same linear velocity of each

Centre of mass:-It is such a point on or outside the body where whole mass of body is assumed to be the concentrated the centre of mass and centre of gravity is a same concept only for the extended object the centre of gravity are different.

Axis of rotation :-The line or fixed axis about which the body is rotating is its axis of rotation if you look around, you will come across many examples of rotation about an axis an axis , a ceiling fan a Potters wheel etc.
